Bangalore, May 26: It is goat milk and not the milk of cows or buffalos that is the preferred choice of Karnataka’s Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra.
The minister, who is also handling the Animal Husbandry portfolio, said goat milk has highest nutrient compared to other varieties of milk
''Whenever I go to Sira village, I prefer to drink goat milk. The milk has highest medicinal value," he said.
Jayachandra, who inaugurated a conference of Veterinary Inspectors and Technicians in Bangalore on Sunday, called upon veterinary doctors and farm staff to popularise the goat milk.
Unfortunately, he regretted that not much publicity has given to popularise goat milk in the State.
The minister appealed to the field staff to give more publicity to the goat milk and highlight its nutrient features.
Jayachandra also was irked at the inordinate delay in the non-appointment of veterinary inspectors despite their selection and directed the State Animal Husbandry Department Commissioner to issue appointment orders to the 1064 selected candidates without any further delay.
The Animal Husbandry Department had already selected the veterinary inspectors but somehow the issuance of the appointment orders was inordinately delayed.
He said the Commissioner Panduranga B Nayak has himself been asked to personally look into the matter and ensure that the appointment orders were issued at the earliest possible so that the selected candidates can join service immediately against the places for which they were selected.
He said even PUC pass candidates are eligible to apply for veterinary inspectors’ posts as against the earlier practice of SSLC passed candidates being allowed to apply for the posts.
The department has been restructured and new cadre and recruitment (C&R) rules would be formulated soon.
The Minister said 75 days of deadline has been given to Secretary K H Ashwathanarayana Gowda to draft C&R rules.
He said that he would chair a meeting to finalise C & R rules on Tuesday and place before the next Cabinet meeting for approval..
''We cannot allow these matters to be delayed for technical reasons,” Jayachandra said.
Innovative projects need to be taken up in farms with the involvement farmers.
Farm level officials should give information to farmers on new technologies and schemes. Surveillance and precautionary steps to control foot and mouth disease of cattle, he said.
