Mangalore, Jul 7: Panambur police led by CI Kodandaram and inspector Pramod Kumar on Thursday July 6 have arrested 6 persons with regard to the robbery at Tannirbavi Beach on Tuesday July4 evening.
As reported earlier, a couple from Meenakali who had come for evening stroll to Tannirbavi Beach was robbed of cash and valuables on July 4 evening. A complaint was filed in the Panambur police station on this regard.
Acting on this, the police arrested 6 persons on Thursday. They have been identified as Gafoor alias Chakke Gafoor (48), Abdul Rahiman alias Rauf (21), Abdul Kabir (19), Ummar Farooq alias Farooq (21), Bashir alias Hammi 22), Mohammad Imtiaz (20) and Muneer alias Munna (20).
The police have also seized 3 gold chains, 2 cell phones and cash. It is said that all the accused are from Kasba Bengre area and are fishermen by profession. They had been involved in several such cases at Tannirbavi Beach earlier too.
The same group had robbed of St Aloysius College students Keneth and Nischal a few days ago. The police also said that the same group was involved in the July 4 evening robbery too.
The police are interrogating further regarding their involvements in any other such cases.
