Suggestions to be elicited for district development

Honnavar: A meeting of all businessmen, journalists, politicians of the district will be called soon to elicit suggestions for the development of the district, said the District Incharge minister of Uttara Kannada and minister of Small Scale Industries, Shivanand Naik.

He added that Rs. 85 crores has already been released as subsidy to small scale industries in the State and another Rs 56 crore will be released soon. Another Rs 246 crore will remain to be released.

Speaking to reporters here in Honnavar on Sunday evening, he said that he is working in the direction of development of large and small industries in the district.

Naik won the MLA seat of Bhatkal constituency on BJP ticketwith BJP card and C M Kumaraswamy has awarded him a ministerial berth. It is hoped that he will develop the district which is still backward and where the people are also very poor.

Shivanand Naik said that the district which has many beautiful sites should be developed as a tourist destination. Boating, resorts and other facilities should be made available which would open up new job oppurtunities for the youth. Naik said that he talked about it with the tourism minister and he said that he would visit all the taluks of the district.

The minister said that there is a need to lay stress upon lift irrigation project in the district. The action plan of the Rs 9 crore lift irrigation project of Manki has been submitted to the government, he said. Stress will also be laid upon construction of dykes and canals at Kudragi Malokada in Honnavar, he added.

BCom, BSc, BA degree now in Urdu medium

Bhatkal: Students receiving education in Urdu medium when getting admission to college have only two options in Karnataka, either they select English or Kannada Medium of instrucition. A study center has been opened in Anjuman Arts Science and Commerce college, Bhatkal. To make the public aware about this home education a function in Anjuman college in which leaders of the community were present. Co-ordinator of MANUU Professor Nazeer Ahmed Khan Lohani welcomed the guest and introduced this education system.

He asked the leaders to give their suggestion so more and more Bhatkal people benefits from this facilities and obtain degree. Presenting the introduction of this university he said that MANUU is running many courses through their study center not only in India but also in gulf countries. The degree certificate of MANUU is acceptable for any job just like other universities.

A person aged above 18 can apply for this university for the degree of BA, B.Sc or B.Com. He also announced the last date for applying for the courses are 15 July 2006.

Programme began with the recitation of Quran by Ahmed Rubah, Mohammed Yaqoub preented the Naat, Muhammed Hammad Piloor presented the Tarane-e-Urdu. Dr. Haneef Shabab, General Secretary Majlis-e-Islah wo Tanzeem, Bhatkal, Abdullah Damudi, Administrator Maadir-e-Hawwa School and others opined their views and suggestions.

Abdur Rahman Batin, Ex-Principal Udupi college presided over the function. Abdul Azeem Ambari, Secretary Anjuman College board and Professor Haroon Khan, Principal Anjuman Arts Science and Commerce college, Bhatkal was also present in this occasion
