Udupi, Jul 8:  Sea erosion continued to be a bane to the residents of Yermal Bada here.

Exactly in the area of the village under Uchila panchayat limits where the sea had played havoc last year, there has been a repeat performance.  Tiya Vishmnumurty Bhajana Mandir is located at the spot.

Twentyone high-yielding coconut trees have been uprooted and knocked to the shore by the powerful waves. Only a few days earlier, the Udupi deputy commissioner had visited the spot and assured of wave-breaking measures.

Talk of permanent solutions to the problems have been making rounds during every monsoon season, but precious little has been done in practice.

In the meantime, the residents of the area are going through the annual ritualistic round of suffering.
