Mangalore, Jul 9: Upgrading itself gradually with various facilities, the district Wenlock Hospital was given ophthalmic equipments by Rotary Club Mangalore. On Saturday Jul 8, the equipment was formally handed over to the hospital. The occasion also witnessed the inauguration of lift facilities and blood bank at the Hospital.

In-charge Minister for the district B Nagaraj Shetty who was the chief guest said that hospital has gained strength due to the dedicated staff. It will soon be a model in the state, he added.

Mangalore MLA Yogish Bhat said that the Infosys sponsored Child Care Centre for the hospital will cater to eight districts of the state.

He said the Government Wenlock Hospital can boast of all the major equipments which other government hospitals lack. The Hospital should not remain a mere district hospital but should become a regional hospital.

A Phaceomulsification unit which will help in conducting cataract surgeries has also been given by Rotary Club. The total equipment costs Rs 4.50 lac.  Two electrically operated OT tables for the operations costing Rs one lac have also been given to the hospital.
