Mangalore, May 28: "The Naxal ideology is being justified in some of the educational institutions in the country. Those who engage in preaching such ideologies should be suspended from their work. Bloodshed is not the solution to any problem," said Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) national general secretary Srihari Borikar.
He was speaking at the civic reception programme organized as part of the national executive committee meeting of ABVP here on Wednesday, May 29.
"Some of the educational institutions including universities are openly propogating Naxal ideology. The ABVP will protest against those who engage in such justification. This is prevalent even in the reputed Jawaharlal Nehru University, where some professors have emerged as the supporters of Naxalism," he said.
"A change has now swept over the country. Earlier, when soldiers sacrificed their lives for the nation, no leader spoke for them. The borders were vulnerable and the security of our country was at stake. Corruption was at its peak. This time (in elections), the citizens of the country have given a fitting reply. In this fight, the ABVP too had joined hands," Borikar further said.
"Ever since Independence, with the dawn of democracy, the country has been a witness to a lot of changes. The pre-independence era was an era of struggle. Today, the country which is primarily agriculture oriented and calls farmers as its backbone has remained blind to the problems faced by farmers, thus driving them to several of them to suicide," he added.
"The youth should take the lead in bringing a full stop to corruption. India should emerge as leading nation on the world map. For this, the youth should come forward”, he said.
In his address, JBF Petroleum firm’s CEO A Gopalkrishna Pai said, "Moral values should be our principles of life. We should lead a cultured life. Without sidelining women, all of us have to work for the growth of our nation."
ABVP national president Prof Muruli Manohar presided over the programme. Anushka Kottari, Chathan L Padil, Ramachandra Shetty and Vinay Bidire were among other ABVP members present at the occasion.
