Daijiworld News Network – Puttur (VM)

Puttur, Jul 9: It has been two weeks from the murder of 19-year-old Akshata near Ansaruddin Yatim Khana at Salmara near here on June 27.

Following this the local Hindu organizations called for a bundh and later postponed the same after police give them assurances that the murder accused Sattar would be nabbed shortly.

The Hindu organizations had also given Sunday July 2 as deadline to nab Sattar. However as the police have not yet arrested Sattar, Sriram Sene has called for a Puttur bundh on Monday, Jul 10.

The taluk level unit of AHINDA (a combine of minorities, backward classes and dalits) had also demanded an impartial investigation in the murder case of Akshata.

The Monday’s bundh however has not received support from the BJP. A release from BJP city unit president Appaiah Maniyani has stated that it will support the protest scheduled on Jul 12 called by Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal.

Monday, being the weekly market at Puttur, the police has been making adequate security arrangements to ensure peaceful protest.
