Nigerian woman strips off on Sharjah street - Arrested

Sharjah, may 30 (Emirates 247) : A Nigerian woman has recently been arrested by Sharjah police after she stripped off and tried to cross a busy street in the emirate almost naked.

Passers-by in Al Wahda area were shocked when they saw the woman, who appeared drunk, taking off most of her clothes and trying to cross the road without consideration to people’s feelings or her personal safety as the road was busy at that time.

A man tried to cover the woman’s body and push her into his car but she managed to escape and run away into another road.

“She is in her 20s…she suddenly took off her clothes and started to walk across the road…passers-by shouted to her to put her clothes on or they will call the police but she did not listen,” the man said, quoted by Al Bayan daily.

“She was not normal and she was screaming as she tried to cross the road which was crowded with cars and people,” another man said.

Police women later rushed to the area and arrested the 24-year-old woman, who was sentenced to one month in prison and ordered deported from the UAE.

The paper quoted Buhairah police director Lt Colonel Yousuf bin Harmoul as saying the incident took place three months ago and that it was the first of its kind in Sharjah.
