M'lore: Pulmonology check-up camp inaugurated at Global hospital

Mangalore, May 31: A Pulmonology check-up camp, jointly organized by Shastavu Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Trust, Mijar and Global multi-specialty hospital, Matadakani was inaugurated by Vijaynath Vittal Shetty, the organizing trustee of Sri Bhootanatheshwara temple, Badaga Yedapadavu, here on Saturday May 31 in the premises of the Global Hospital.

Dr Susheel Jathanna, the chairperson and MD, Global hospital, Dr Pradeep Narayan, the pulmonologist and Bhaskar Arasa, the media co-ordinator were also present on the dais. The camp was inaugurated by lighting the lamp.


Vijaynath Vittal Shetty said, "We get happiness and peace of mind by serving the poor and the needy. We all have heard the proverb ‘health is wealth’, but it is often ignored. We realize the importance of  health only when we grow old. It is important for the youth to maintain good health."

"Parents should guide their children in this regard," he added.

Dr Pradeep Narayan explained how tobacco consumption lead to palmonolistic diseases; he also talked about the preventive measures.

Dr Susheel Jathanna welcomed the gathering; Kusumadhar Suvarna proposed the vote of thanks.

The two-days camp, which has been organized to mark the world anti-tobacco day provides free health check-up for asthama, allergies, COPD, TB, lung cancer, snoring, sleep disorder, occupational lung diseases etc.
