Mangalore, Jul 11: Addressing a press meet here on Monday Jul 10, Nehru Yuva Kendra district youth coordinator C J F D’Souza, informed that on account of World Population Day on Tuesday July 11, the adolescent health and development project will be launched at the Town Hall here, under the aegis of the United Nations Population Fund (UNPF).

The ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports chose Nehru Yuva Kendra to implement this pilot project.
 
Two Adolescent Peer Volunteers (APVs) and seven member District Adolescent Resource Team (DART), will assist the Nehru Yuva Kendra. Village-level intervention will commence after APVs and DART members are provided with sensitization programmes.

Among the sixty districts in the country where the project will be implanted, 40 villages  have been selected in the city and Puttur taluks.  As part of the project, ‘Teen Clubs’ will be initiated under the prevailing youth clubs.
