Udupi: Woman pedestrian killed as car runs amok near Yermal

Udupi, Jun 3: A pedestrian was killed near Yermal here on Tuesday June 3 after a speeding car rammed into her after hitting the compound wall of a restaurant.

The deceased, identified as Leelavati (30), wife of Ashok, was a resident of Yermal.

Sources said that the driver of the Renault Duster car lost control due to high speed and hit the compound wall of a restaurant and hit a welcome arch. It then ricocheted off on to the road and rammed into the lady, who died on the spot, and also dashed into an electric pole.

The car was moving from Mangalore to Udupi. The driver escaped from the spot soon after the accident.

Udupi district minister in-charge Vinay Kumar Sorake arrived at the spot. He also visited the family of the deceased and expressed condolences.

The body was shifted to government hospital.

Padubidiri police have registered a case.

    Please catch the driver & hang him in public so that drivers who break traffic rules & limits will be warned. Secondly bring out all the traffic polices to road , warn them & make them compulsory daily drill on the respective roads. This Traffic Polices are active only when Politicians, Celebrities & Religious leaders arrival. DOn't don't bother to fulfil their routine job.

    Look at the external body of a new cars!!!! Even Insurance will not cover-up the repair cost of fibre/ plastic body.

    It seems ,Now a days MLA's are free without office works.how can MLA reach the spot before the police...Instead of this they can try to minimize accidents by making roads driver friendly...by pressing authorities to complete the projects as soon as possible.The road condition after trasi is so bad due to diversions here and there...

    This is happening mostly on NH66 due to road-widening (four lane)almost regularly.Total confusion due to road diversion.Vehicles are coming from all the directions without any rules,regulations putting the public in total chaos and confusion.Very dangerous to cross or wait for buses to catch in the bus stand.Another factor is over speeding like a bullet coming.Vehicles are entering from all the directions,the moment they get some chance to enter without giving any chance to the public to think.All the drivers/vehicle owners are taking maximum benefits due to road construction work at the cost of poor public,pedestrians.There is no human value in this world.Killing,dying,murdering is the daily affairs nowadays without any mercy,sympathy,courtesy.so bad.Concerned authorities/department especially NHI authorities should act immediately in order to regularize the traffic before it is too late.However my sincere prayer to almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul of poor lady and bestow enough strength,courage and tolerance to bear this irreparable loss.

    My heartfelt condolence to the family members of departed family.God bless them all

    Poor Lady,just because one couldnt control his car some innocent Person lost life and made Lady's Family in grievousness and who knows may be there are children lost mother.Not only that he escaped also,leaving behind the injured Person(died).shame on him.he was supposed to attend the injured first as a Driver.May her Soul rest in peace and heartfelt sympathy to the Family.catch him and let pay to her Family compensation.

    India has to bring out strict traffic rules ,educate drivers to drive safe ,develop proper roads , signals etc, in order to cope up with the advanced motor cars , which can easily cruise speeds above 150 km /h . Develop proper infrastructure before bringing these cars on roads. Otherwise God only has to keep us alive .
