Kasargod: Scrap dealer arrested for buying stolen items

Kasargod, June 12: The Cannanore railway station police have arrested a junk shop owner who is accused to have bought items stolen from a railway warehouse.

The arrested is identified as U B Ameer Ali(38), a resident of Ullal. He was running a junk shop called N N Steel company at Marakkara road near Cheruvathur railway station. The railway security force have arrested and have recovered items valued at Rs 10,000.

Ameer Ali has been running the business for the last seven years. Copper cables and electronic items valued at Rs six lacs were stolen
from a store in the railway premises on May 10. The railway security force which investigated the incident, received secret information, raided the shop and arrested Ameer Ali.

The arrested has been produced before the Telichery CJM court and has been sentenced for two weeks of judicial custody.
