Mangalore: Police bust illegal gun peddling racket, arrest two

Mangalore, Jun 13: The Barke police have succeeded in busting a racket involved with illegal supply of country made guns. They have arrested two persons, and confiscated from their possession a country made gun and two cell phones.

Seetaram Rao (61) residing near Guttamma Sthana in Dongerkeri in the city, and Muhibulla (45) belonging to Annanagar in Shimoga, were arrested on Wednesday June 11 in this connection.

The police had information that Muhibulla had brought a country made gun to the city from Shimoga, and that Seetaram Rao had finalized a deal to buy the gun for Rs 1.2 lac on Wednesday June 11 evening. Based on reliable information they got, the police raided Rao's home and arrested the duo. Both have been accused of illegally selling and purchasing country made gun.

The operation was led by assistant police commissioner, Tilakchandra, Bunder station police inspector, Cheluvaraju, and Barke station crime branch sub-inspector, Revati.

On being produced in a court here on Thursday, both the accused were remanded to judicial custody.

    Really surprise..now-a-days price of all the things sky-rocketed..!!
    Earlier country-made guns available at around Rs.20,000/-..but purchasers are less..selling by Afghani Karim Lala..!!
    Due to demand of guns are on rise..with new 'gangs' crop-up each day very difficult to buy...by a small time rowdy sheeters..!!
    A new government should look into this matter quickly..Jai Ho..
