Mangalore: Security beefed up at airport following terror alert

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore

Mangalore, Jun 16: Mangalore International Airport has been put on high alert following information from the Central Intelligence Bureau about a possible terror attack on the airport.

The Intelligence Bureau has reportedly said that terrorists have plotted to attack the airport, and they might carry out their plan at any time.

Following the alert, security has been beefed up at the airport and also in the surrounding areas.

The alert has been issued in all airports across the country in the wake of terror attacks on Karachi airport in Pakistan. As the coastal Karnataka region has been known to have terror links in the past, the CISF at Mangalore airport has formed 'Kshipra' team to prevent as well as counter any attack.

In the southern region, airports in Mangalore, Kochi and Kozhikode have identified as 'sensitive' and more focus has laid on strengthening security in these airports.

So far, there were 150 personnel of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) guarding the Mangalore airport, but now 60 more personnel have been deployed.

A special meeting was called to discuss security measures at Mangalore airport, and it was decided to form three teams to keep a close watch on the airport and surrounding areas round the clock. A separate team has been deployed at the entrance of the airport to check passengers and people coming into the airport. Security has also been beefed up at all four sides, and so also around the runway and border areas of the airport, sources said.

The terrorists in Karachi attacked the airport in Military uniforms. Our armed forces/paramilitary forces should have different uniforms during different days and the dress code has to changed each week so that the terrorists can be identified easily with the difference in uniforms if they use military uniforms. I think the investment in different uniforms on different days may save lots of lives and the forces can shoot the terrorists easily without killing their own men by mistake.

Present government has got lots of issues to be resolved on a priority basis.
Let Mr. Modi work out his strategy to implement whatever possible to achieve economic prosperity and strong national security. It's a good sign that he is trying to poster good relations with immediate neighbors. Bad relations with our neighbors will simply divert/drain our resources on wars rather than using the same for National developments.
Give war a last option but in the meantime, we cannot compromise our internal security when external force or extremist threaten us.

I am not trying to justify the terrorism. Terror and killing innocent people is condemnable, deserve the harshest punishment. But only by punishing terrorists we cannot eradicate terrorism. If we need to curb the terrorism we need to find the root cause for this. They are mainly Social and political injustice: People choose terrorism when they are trying to right what they perceive to be a social or political or historical wrong—when they have been stripped of their land or rights, or denied these. Many terrorists in history said sincerely that they chose violence after long deliberation, because they felt they had no choice
Identifying these drivers allows policy makers to target terrorism at its root causes rather than fight those who have already become radicalized.

But how it can be ive in larger perspective?..look at secular countries around the world & the countries which are under strict religious rules..which countries have peace in general & which is not..i think there must be fundamental change & efforts by all the countries to address the menace of terrorism..time & again it proved in pakistan, afghanistan, african countries & ME..mere lip service not enough, there must be real introspect and shun the supremacy of faith & follow VASUDEVA KUTUMBAM policy..

You guys are conveniently twisting statements made by Ex HM.

He mentioned minority who is "Illegally detained" must be released. by quoting some illegal detention.

He used the word "illegally" which you purposely not used here.

Any how I too dont agree his statement as he shouldn't have said that as he was HM for all people.

The statement of right wing terrorist is not made by congi as it is a fact existing in India which is the biggest threat to our country.

What about the election promises by Mr.56, Now you are asking for one year, after one year, he will ask for 5 years and after 5 years he will ask for another 5 years.. This government too seems more to talk than do. Not a single Union secretary or a Governor has been shifted, transferred and even replaced, and the bureaucracy remains the same and they speak of good governance and efficient administration. Not all are fools to be carried away by rhetoric, where is the action? Not a single act have he done so far to alleviate the sufferings of the common man? Inflation is all time high, currency is falling, a big in sensex.
There can be no development unless there is secular amity. Peace among all religion is a basic necessity for growth. We need an environment where there is no communal tension. ONE WARD FROM TOP will ensure that the fringe element of either majority or minority taken into task very severely but this is not happening. The bottom line is “there is no difference in both the national parities congress and BJP.

The difference between Israel and India is that, Israel faces terrorist threats from outside. But as a country all people are together in supporting action against terrorists.
But in India some people taking all benifits and additional benifits from the government, support guide and harbour terrorists. That is the reason the Indian situations is different.
There is nothing wrong in seeking assistance from Israel to curb this menace faster.

    Some quotes about size:-

‘What counts is not necessarily the size of the dog in the fight - it's the size of the fight in the dog’

‘Never confuse the size of your paycheck with the size of your talent’

Inida is capable to defend the integrity and security of the country but firstly we need to identify and destroy some radicals and anti-Indians who are in disguise. It is a tough job and we can seek intelligence from any country to do away with the menace plaguing the country.

Mr. 56 is now Mr. 63, and we have seen the governance of first 20 days, no changes as such. Old wine in new bottle. What has Mr.56 Government done tangibly for the people of India in the 20 days he has been in office? NOTHING, it is all rhetoric, pronouncements and announcements, that’s all, he talk about super fast trains, the diamond quadrangular project, modernization of the defense ,Inter River Linking in India. River Waters Tribunal as well as the Archaeological Society of India as well as NASA has said that that linking of rivers of India would be a danger for the Indian seismology, Do you know one thing and that is a quake more than 7.00 on the Richer scale in the Himalayas can wipe the entire North of India, as the Ganges would swell, and reluctantly the offshoot rivers and tributaries namely the Beas, Chenab and many a more, How was Kedarnath washed out?. This Government speaks about the inter River Linking and the masses believe without knowing what effects it could have on the topography and the seismology of India.
Inflation is all time high, many people said that the rupee would strengthen, the sensex would improve, gold would crash, etc, but look at it for the last three days, the sensex is coming down, the rupee has fallen , the effect of the increase in the diesel prices have further worsened the wholesale price index as it rose by 4.2 % in the last hike and it has worsened now, and the government is going ahead on the gas prices hike, and even curbing exports of onion and other food products.
