Udupi, Jun 19: The spate of fatal accidents continued on Thursday June 19 with yet another mishap reported at Ambagilu junction, in which a 29-year-old youth from Kerala lost his life.

The deceased, Nisar from Ernakulam in Kerala, was travelling in a Qualis car towards his hometown when a truck rammed into the car.

Nisar along with his friends were on a trip to Goa since June 15. On Thursday, they were returning to Ernakulam via Kundapur.

There were five other persons in the car, among whom one was injured and rest escaped unhurt. The identity of the injured person is not yet known.

The truck was transporting fish from Mangalore to Bhatkal. Eyewitnesses said that the truck, in a bid to take a turn at the junction, moved over to the wrong side of the road at a high speed and hit the car. The driver of the car tried to avoid the collision, but in vain.

SI Maruthi Nayak and additional SP Santosh arrived at the spot along with the traffic police.

A case has been registered in Udupi traffic police station.

Road accidents could happen every time car owners/driver neglect safe hand driving, one must maintain a speed level applicable to the area to which they are heading to. If one can maintain and on guard to the driver's wheel no accidents will follow.

OMG! how many accident news! I suggest Daiji to open a seperate section for reporting accidents alone in our twin districts. Additionally, that page can have a monthwise tabular presentation of all accidents with columns like date, type of accident, no injured, no of deaths and monthly totals of accidents and deaths which can be forwarded to all concerned. (RTOs, MLAs, MPs, Drivers associations, Bus owners assocation, NHAI etc).

Government/RTO department was sleeping last many decades, most of the accidents were/are happened due to fish transportation vehicles. These vehicles are always high speed because they want to reach their destination within a short period otherwise they won’t get benefit so all drivers are speeding their trucks like a rockets by killings other so my request to RTO to regulate/limit the speed of fish transportation trucks to avoid such type of accidents.
