Kundapur: Habitual bike thief caught red-handed

Kundapur, Jun 20: A person, who is said to have been involved with several cases of bike thefts from various places within taluk since the last one year, was arrested by the Kundapur police here on Thursday June 19. 

The accused has been identified as Gopal alias Gopi (28), son of Kunjalugiri Rangaswamy, a native of Tamil Nadu, who  presently resides at Chittarikal in Heskathur near here.


After they were tipped off about the movements and activities of the the theft accused,  a team of policemen comprising circle inspector, P M Diwakar, and police sub-inspector, Prasad D Kavari, under the guidance of the deputy superintendent of police here, C B Patil, took up vehicle inspection at Koteshwar. The accused, who was moving by that road in a stolen bike, was nabbed. 

It is said that the bike he was riding at the time was stolen from Heskathur. After interrogating the accused, the policemen took into possession another bike he reportedly had stolen in the past from Neralakatte.

On being produced in the court here on Thursday, the accused was remanded to 15 days judicial custody.
