Ananth Kumar to urge Modi to mark Jun 21 as World Yoga Day

Bangalore, Jun 21: Union Fertilisers and Chemicals Minister H N Ananth Kumar has promised to urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare June as the World Yoga Day.
He was speaking at the Suryathon function of 108 Surya Namaskaras at the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Sansthana (S-VYASA) University at BMSCE, Bangalore on Saturday.


More than 3,000 people participated in this event early in the morning at 6.30am. 

Ananth Kumar emphasized the need for Yoga practice for everyone including media persons and politicians for a healthy and holistic lifestyle.
 
He enthusiastically participated in the Yogathon (Yoga Nadige), which was a 3.5kms walk along with  more than 3,000 Yoga supporters to spread the message of World Yoga Day.

Ananth Kumar informed that World Yoga Day is being celebrated all over the world in an appropriate manner. 

He promised to approach Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongwith with the concerned Minister to request him to pressurize the United Nations Organization (UNO) to declare 21st June as the World Yoga Day to protect people’s health and well-being.

Ananth Kumar announced that he will arrange to sanction Rs 25 lakh for the Yoga Hall to be constructed adjacent to S-VYASA University City Office, Eknath Bhavan, Bangalore from the MP local fund to promote the benefits of Yoga to the common people.

Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, President, Adamya Chetana, Bangalore inaugurated the Yoga Olympiad (Yoga Competition). 

More than 400 contestants participated in the Yoga competition from Bangalore, Karnataka and all over India.

Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, also inaugurated the Yoga Exhibition with many stalls consisting of Yogic literature, Yoga products etc. emphasizing the benefits of health through Yoga and meditation like Stop Diabetes Movement (SDM) organized by S-VYASA University.

A Yoga Seminar was organized by S-VYASA University on topics like Yoga for Health, Stress Management and Yoga as a Career with eminent speakers from various fields. More than 200 delegates participated in the Seminar.

The World Yoga Day concluded with Yogic cultural programs and an awareness among all age groups of Yoga for Promotion of Positive Health.
