Mangalore: DC orders shifting of Mulky town office

Mangalore, Jun 22: Deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim and K Abhayachandra Jain, minister of youth, sports, and fisheries ordered the shifting of Mulky town office that is in shambles.

“The office will be shifted in stages on requests by the department officials, media and the town municipal council to the location which has remained vacant after the shifting of Morarji Desai school in Gerukatte. The room of important files will be shifted in first. The shifting process will be completed within the next two months. However, applications related to the village accountant and others will be accepted in the old office,” said Jain.
 

He said that the land of 1.90 acres had been reserved for the taluk office and the project will soon be implemented. 

“A special tahsildar in Mulky will be appointed as Mulky tahsildar with all the necessary authority in response to the long standing demand of the locals. The deputy commissioner suggested that 10 percent assistance for the construction will be provided by the government and the remaining 90 percent will be raised from the local people,” he said.

Eliminate Middlemen 

As the menace of the agents has increased around taluk office and town offices in the district, the deputy commissioner and Jain asked all the tahsildars to put a stop to this. The deputy commissioner added that he had come to know that the agents were paid up to Rs 20,000 for sanctioning the house sites under 94 C and ordered a stop to this. Jain said that the department officials should not bow to any lobbies. He asked them to come out of the office, identify them, and hand them over to the police.

Adalat Facility

The minister also assured that an Adalat facility will be provided once in two months for those who were deprived of the government schemes. The minister and the deputy commissioner also suggested to the officials that ration cards should be issued in Mulky, Moodbidri and Bajpe centers for the convenience of local people.

Mescom

In the meeting to scrutinize development, a discussion was held at length about the Mescom problem. There were several complaints regarding misbehavior of the staff at Mulky Mescom office, billing problems and power failures. The deputy commissioner responded by asking the Mescom MD to meet minister Jain. Jain suggested sending a proposal to upgrade the Mulky Mescom office as Mulky Mescom subdivision.

Police Matters

Minister Jain who objected to the inclusion of Mulky town police station in Surathkal traffic police station said that as Mulky station was on a commissionerate grade, a separate police station was not necessary. He said that the officers from Surathkal station be sent to Mulky station.

Drinking Water

Drinking water is supplied from Thumbe for two hours in a day and the officials informed that Rs 24 lac is due. Veena Alva, the chief official of town panchayat requested separating Haleangadi grama and Padupanambur grama from Mulky and installing separate meters. She drew attention to their pending bills.

Trash Disposal

The deputy commissioner and the minister who obtained detailed information on disposal of trash asked for its prompt disposal on a regular basis.

Contagious Diseases

The minister who obtained information on dengue and malaria suggested preventive steps.

Extension of Narma buses to Mulky

The deputy commissioner said that the Narma buses will be extended till Mulky. He also said that the buses between Mulky and Chickmagalur that were suspended for the last three years will be resumed.

The deputy commissioner also requested that applications for regularizing of unauthorized houses be submitted directly.

In the meeting held under the leadership of minister Jain, officials of various departments were present on time and provided necessary information.

AC Dr Prashanth, city panchayat chief official Meenakshi Bangera, vice-president Vasanti Bhandari, standing committee president Sunil Alva and chief official Vani Alva were present. Planning official T J Takat proposed the vote of thanks.
