Colombia goalkeeper Mondragon oldest World Cup player

Rio de Janeiro, June 25 (IANS): The 43-year-old Colombia goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon became the oldest player to appear in the FIFA World Cup finals match when he came on as a late substitute in the 4-1 win over Japan.

Mondragon Tuesday broke the record held by Cameroon striker Roger Milla, who was 42 when he played in the 1994 finals in the United States.

Mondragon entered in the 85th minute when his team was 3-1 ahead.

Colombia marched into the round of 16 knockout stage after three wins from as many Group C matches.
