Daijiworld News Network – Udupi (VM)

Udupi, Jul 25: U Sudha Prabhu, an international power lifter, serving in Kundapur Women Police Station has been declared the ‘Strong Woman of Karnataka 2006,’ in the recently held state-level Senior Power Lifting Championships in Bangalore.

The event was held between Jul 13 and 16.

  

A pride to Udupi and to the Police Department, Sudha has brought several laurels to the police department through her sport.

Some of her other achievements in the field in recent times are:

  • First place with a new record in the Asian Bench-press Championship.
  • Asian Strongwomen in 2003-04.
  • Second place in Asian Power lifting in 2004-05.
  • First place in National Power lifting since last 5 years.
  • First place in State-level Senior Power Lifting competition conducted recently where she was declared Strong Women of Karnataka 2006.

Sudha has now been selected for the National Power lifting competition to be held at Nainital, Uttaranchal from Aug 9 to 13, 2006.
