Udupi, Jul 25: Mogaveera Mahajana Sangha, Federation of Coastal Karnataka Fisheries and Nanndikur Jana Jagruti Samiti have jointly organized a huge protest meet at Ajjarkad Grounds here in protest of setting up of Nagarjuna Power Plant at Yellur and Nandikur regions here.
This was announced in a joint press conference here.
It is said that fisheries would take a leave on Wednesday July 26 from their profession to participate in the protest meet and express their solidarity with thousands of other persons who have been opposing Nagarjuna right from the beginning.
Elected representatives and other leaders of the region are expected to take part and address the protest meet on Wednesday.
MP Manorama Madhwaraj, Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon, former minister Vasanth Salian, ZP members Jerald Fernandes, Shashikanth Padubidri, Gladys D'Almeida, Lakshman Shetty of Nandikur Jana Jagruti Samiti and others were present at the press conference.
