M'lore: Dental dept inaugurated at Global Hospital

Mangalore, July 1: The inaugural ceremony of the ‘Dental Department’ at the Global Multi-specialty Hospital was held here in the hospital premises on Tuesday July 1 on the occasion of World Doctors Day.

The department was inaugurated by Dr H Rajeshwari Devi, district surgeon and superintendent, Government Wenlock District Hospital.


A formal function to mark the inauguration was also held on the venue. Dr Rajeshwari, Dr Susheel Jattanna, chairman of Global Hospital, Dr Sudharam, director of global hospital, Dr Ramya Adarsh, dentist and Bhaskar Arasa were present on the dias.

Speaking after the inauguration, Dr Rajeshwari said, "The managing board of the hospital has understood the need of oral and dental care and thus have started the dental wing. Certain amount in the budget has also been set aside for the dental care facility; even the state government has reserved certain amount to ensure oral treatment even to the poor."

"The relationship between the patient and doctor in the present day is not the same as that of earlier times. The relationship is getting diluted and there is a need to tighten the relation as well," she said.

Dr Susheel Jattanna welcomed the gathering, Dr Sudharam delivered the key note address and Bhaskar Arasa proposed the vote of thanks.

The new dental department in the hospital will provide various facilities like root canal, orthodontic treatment, teeth whitening, cosmetic dentistry, child dental care, removal and fixing of dentures, gums treatment and cleaning, filling, extractions including impactions and transalveolar procedures.
