Udupi: Press Club Day marked by talk on ‘Journalists and Law’

Udupi, Jul 2: ‘Press Club Day’ was celebrated at the press club, Brahmagiri on Tuesday July 1. It was organized in association with the District Working Journalists’ Association.

Senior advocate and journalist S N Hebbar, speaking on ‘Journalists and Law’ said that journalists should have strong diligence. He criticized the law of the land saying, “If we write facts it may considered as against justice, but not doing so will worsen the social condition.”


Hebbar added, “Why should we follow the days of the British Empire? Where is the freedom of press? Journalists must work in the midst of confusion and insecurity.” 

Kiran Manjanbailu, president, District Working Journalists’ Association, presided over the programme.

He expressed his message that being a journalist one should try to focus more on society and humanity.

Senior journalist Gokuldas Pai, DD News, and Chethan Padubidri, ‘Udayavani’ newspaper, were honoured by resource person Hebbar.

Rohini, information department officer, Jayakar Suvarna, secretary, Umesh Marpalli, treasurer and other media persons were present.
