Shootout case: Accused to be produced in Kasargod court

Kasargod, July 2: Kasargod police have petitioned Mangalore First Class Magistrate court for producing a convict in the Kasargod court. The accused in a shooting incident at Kasargod was imprisoned in Mangalore.

The accused, Mohammed Ali (35), resident of Manjeshwar Kurudupadavu is in the Mangalore prison and is accused to have shot at the house of Bevinje's contractor M T Mohammed Kunhi.

Kasargod police had arrested Abdulla Hameed (40), hailing from Paivalike Bayaru, said to be the principal accused of the shooting
incident that occurred on June 25, 2010. Mangalore police had arrested Mohammed Ali alias Munna, an accomplice of Puttu alias Abdulla Hameed who is an accomplice of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Besides the shooting incident at Bevinje, Mohammed Ali is also accused in the attempt to murder case of Congress leader Prabhakar Chowta. Mohammed Ali is in Mangalore sub jail under judicial custody. He was arrested a few years ago at Bangalore airport with fake currency notes valued at Rs 25 lacs.

He had met Puttu alias Abdul Hameed while in Bangalore prison and hatched a conspiracy to shoot at the house and threaten M T
Mohammed Kunhi.

Police came to know that the shooting has taken place after rumors that Pallikere resident Hamza who was shot dead by underworld
criminals had handed over gold valued at Rs 50 crores obtained from Dawood Ibrahim while in Mumbai to Mohammed Kunhi.

Puttu alias Abdul Hameed had threatened Mohammed Kunhi for the hafta money of Rs 50 crores under the guise of an underworld criminal. When the amount was not paid he shot at the house to further threaten him.

Police are hopeful that further information can be obtained after taking into custody Mohammed Ali and questioning him. Another accused in the incident, Manish Shetty is imprisoned at Bangalore due to theft of jewelery. Kasargod police have tried to obtain his custody.
