M'lore: GTTC invites applications from SC/ST students for short-term courses

Mangalore, Jul 3: The Government Tool Room and Training Center (GTTC), industrial area, held a press meet on Wednesday July 2 here. Lakshmana Naik, principal of the institute said that the institute was done with the admissions of long-term courses and had invited applications for the following short-term courses from the SC/ST students:

Tool Room Machinist- Duration 12 months; for SSLC/PUC/ITI qualified
CNC Technologist- Duration six months; for ITI/Diploma qualified
CAD/CAM training- Duration four months; for ITI/Diploma and BE qualified


He also said that the placements for the students had been excellent. More than 525 qualified individuals were placed in various small scale and large scale industries with high demand.

“We are happy that the various tools and parts manufactured in GTTC have been used by ISRO, HAL, VSSC, and other research-oriented centers as well as other government and private enterprises of the country," he added.

Rajkumar, the head of examination, spoke about the job orders undertaken by the 20 centers in the state.

He said, “We undertake three to four lac job orders in the state from various industries. The materials will be furnished by the companies and we provide the finished products. In Mangalore, we train the students along with 12 staff."

"The students who have gone from the center have returned and are training the new students. In a year, we accept 960 students in the state and 90 in Karnataka for the long-term course”, he added.

Mutthukumar, training manager, Venkatesh, principal of Mysore DTTC and Khader Shaw, information officer were present on the occasion.

From the nuts and bolts in the automobile sector to the space equipment used by ISRO, the institute is skilled in producing a variety of mechanic tools.

The institute offers various courses to the students who have passed 10th, ITI, diploma and engineering.

Long-term courses are:

Diploma in Tool and Die Marketing
Diploma in Precision Manufacturing
Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
Diploma in Mechatronics

Along with the above courses, the institute offers some other short term courses as well:

Solid works
CNC Programming and Operation
Master CAM
UG-CATIA
