Karwar, Jul 30: It has been estimated that the state's department of ports incurred a loss to the tune of Rs 4.75 crore on account of the shipwreck of MV Ocean Seraya at the end of May.
The Uttar Kannada district administration had notified that claims on damages resulting from the shipwreck could be submitted and accordingly the department has filed its claim.
The district administration has estimated the loss suffered by fisheries, tourism, pollution control and other departments at Rs 80 lac (Rs 8 million).
The administration has allowed a three-month period for submission of claims.
