New Delhi, July 4: Union Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda released the 30th annual special issue of 'Tuluver,' a Tulu monthly magazine published from the national capital on June 23 in Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Sadananda Gowda said, "Tulu, one of the five Dravidian languages which is apoken in coastal Karnataka, contains a rich heritage of folk literature."
He further added that this paves way for a need to get across the language to a wider audience through translating them into other Indian languages. "Regional literature depicts the real Indian culture," Gowda said.
M B Samaga, editor of Tuluver, urged the central government to include Tulu in the eighth schedule of the Indian Constitution. He also asked the Karnataka government to start a Tulu university and a Tulu cultural museum in Mangalore.
Tuluver is the only magazine in Tulu language, published regularly every month for the past 30 years.
