All India Tulu Union meets regarding three-day Tulu festival in Mangalore

Mangalore, July 4: "Tulu language is known to have proclaimed the grandeur of Indian culture to the world. Such rich Tulu language deserves national recognition and status," said Dharmapal U Devadiga, president of Akhila Bharatha Tulu Okkoota.

"Every Tulu language lover should cooperate for the inclusion of the language in the eighth chapter of the Constitution. The union can serve as a platform. However the recognition can only occur when scholars, elders, researchers and everyone who has struggled for the language, voluntarily unite and work towards it," he added.


Devadiga was speaking after presiding over at a preparatory meeting to the three day Tulu Parba (Tulu Festival) proposed to be held at Pilikula Nisargadhama from November 29. He called on to fulfill their aim by combining their efforts with the government and the elected representatives.

The meet was held at Yenepoya College hall, Balmatta on Sunday June 29; union chief secretary Ratnakumar M, treasurer Jayakar Shetty Indrali and other office bearers were present.

Damodar Nisarga welcomed while union honorary president Lion Diwakar S Shetty Sangli described the details of the celebration. Union secretary Nitte Shashidar Shetty gave an introductory speech. Kadri Navaneetha Shetty displayed the slides of the programme. Professor Srinath Ujire shared his experience at the World Tulu conference.

Tulu Koota convener G T Acharya, vice president Vishwanath U Mada, leaders of Tulu associations in Dakshina Kannada A C Bhandary, Durgaprasad Rai Kumbra, Umesh Shetty Kadaba, D M Kulal, Chandrahas Devadiga Moodbidri, Harish Boloor, Dr Rajashree R Shetty, Jayanti S Bangera, Hamanath Shetty Kavu, leaders from Hassan, Sakleshpur, Moodigere, Bhadravathi, Sangli, New Delhi and many office bearers gave information and suggestions.

Dr Kishore Kumar Rai compeered the programme and Leelaksha Karkera proposed the vote of thanks.
