Puttur, Jul 7: Three personnel attached to the police outpost at Nelyady were allegedly attacked by three members of a family, when the police party reached their home on the night of Saturday July 5.

The policemen in question, head constable, Dhananjaya, constables, Sachin and Sridhar, had been deputed there to arrest Pradeep, a resident of Pervody in Shiradi village, his wife, and mother.

Pradeep

A case of obstructing policemen on duty stands registered against Pradeep, his wife, Deepa, and mother, Theresiamma. The policemen had visited the house of Pradeep to arrest him in connection with a case of posing death threat to a person named Annu, and deriding him by referring to the community to which he belongs. It is learnt that the accused pounced upon the policemen with sticks, but the police personnel succeeded at the end in taking Pradeep into custody. The said case was registered in Uppinangady poilce station under Civil Rights Act.

While head constable, Dhananjaya, suffered fracture of the hand, Sachin lost a tooth in the incident. After the attack, both the ladies reportedly took to their heels, and the policemen are on the lookout for them. On being produced before the chief district and sessions court, the accused, Pradeep, was remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

It is gathered the accused already faces cases relating to theft of elephants tusks, as well as cane stalks grown in the forest region. The police department is now preparing to initiate departmental proceedings to include him in the list of rowdies maintained by the department, taking into account the nature of crimes he is involved in.

In view of the seriousness of charges faced by the accused, Pradeep was produced before deputy superintendent of police, H D Mendonca, who happens to be the designated officer for investigating this kind of crime.

    Points need Answers-
Police went to arrest him at Night,
    Were the Police in Uniform?
    Did they identify themselves?
Was the accused's family mistook them for robbers?
One sided version will most likely give different view point.
Police Force needs reform & more sophisticated- faced with profession related violence which is not uncommon while dealing with criminals.

OMG this is called Kaliyuga and anything can happen in this era and anywhere, anytime. If our judicial system was in place, where it was supposed to be,all these non-senses,nuisances wouldn't have occurred at this speed. Now people have no fear at all about the law, police etc. They know very well that even if they are caught, arrested, there are many people supporting him and get relieved on bail. Then why to fear and for what reason. These type of hooligans, rowdyism, attack, robbery, rape, molestation etc can be either controlled to the optimum level or completely eradicated, which is bit impossible task, only when our judiciary system is rectified, amended in order to suit to the current situation.Whoever may be culprits should be meted stringent punishment or should be hanged until death. This way only these type of crimes can be brought under control or minimized.
