August 2: “In thee we hope Mary our Mother”.  On the strength of his motto and his unwavering trust in the providence of the Lord, his protection and strong faith, Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras has carried on his work of spreading the Gospel, providing comfort and support to the poor, downtrodden and sick and the education of people, especially the children.  His Excellency has an open door policy and is available to all without any restrictions.  Despite his demanding schedule, he always has an attentive ear and a smile for anyone who meets him.  He has established a “Clergy Security Fund” to assist in the maintenance and medical expenses of the retired clergy who served in the archdiocese; the “Seminarians Maintenance Fund” to help with expenses of the seminarians and most importantly, he set up the “Poor Students Fund” to finance the educational needs of students with limited financial needs as well as arranging additional classes and coaching.

Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras will be attending the XVI International HIV/AIDS Conference in Toronto from the 10th to the 18th of August, 2006 in the capacity of Chairman of the CBCI Commission for Health.  It is His Excellency’s greatest desire to celebrate a Konkani mass during his visit to Toronto, as this will give him a chance to meet the catholic community residing in the GTA.  The Konkani mass will be held on the 20th of August at Sts. Martha and Mary Church, Mississauga. This Eucharistic celebration is being organized with the enthusiastic and dedicated support of Fr. Edwin D’Souza, pastor of Sts. Martha and Mary Parish, 1870 Burnhamthorpe Road East, Mississauga, L4X 2S5. Mass will commence at 3.00 pm followed by a felicitation and reception in the church hall.

The Mangalorean Association of Canada is honored to be given an opportunity to organize the Konkani mass and to pay tribute to a great visionary, Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras.

Please forward this information to friends and family so a multitude of people can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.
