Mangalore, Aug 3: The district administration has planned a grand reception to the `Suvarna Karnataka Samskruthi Dibbana' in Dakshina Kannada. A district-level core committee has been formed for this purpose.

`Samskruthi Dibbana' will mark the 50 years of the formation of Karnataka State.  And the event has been planned by the State Government.

At the preliminary meeting held here on Wednesday, chief executive officer, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat A Kunjappa said that the procession would reach the district between Oct 13 and 22. After entering from Mulki, the Dibbana will head towards Moodbidri via Kateel, where a grand reception will be organized on Oct 13.

It will reach Mangalore on Oct 14 and will move out of the city on Oct 16 to Puttur. The procession will culminate at Dharmastala after passing through Ujire.

Revenue authorities in charge of taluks, respective subdivisions, and language academies based here and other cultural organisations will also contribute to making the event a grand success, Kunjappa said.

Nine centers will pre presenting cultural programmes at the event.

Assistant director, Department of Kannada and Culture H C Rangappa, said the Government had agreed to release Rs 1 lakh to the district administration to make the necessary arrangements.
