Udupi, Aug 3: Addressing a press meet Leonardo D’Souza, vice president, Mudartha Charitable Trust, informed that the Mudartha Home for the Elders at Kattingeri near here will be inaugurated on Friday August 3.

The home will be run by the Mudartha Charitable Trust in collaboration with the Congregation of the Sisters of the Cross of Chavanod, Province of Amravati. The sisters will be directly involved in the running of the Home for the Elders.

Elderly people who are poor and do not have any means to earn a living, will be given shelter at the Mudartha Home. Each person will be given individual attention by professionally trained personnel by the Holy Cross Order. Accommodation will be provided for people aged above 45 years.

Factors like family disintegration and migration of the younger generation has led the senior citizens to find shelter elsewhere, added Leonardo.

Present at the meet were Bernard D’Souza, president, Mudartha Charitable Trust and Sister Eugene D’Souza, Provincial, Sisters of the Cross, Amravati Province.
