Mangalore, Aug 4: A medical student was assaulted by five persons for having raised objection about certain things of the latter on Thursday August 3 night.
Dr Mithun Shetty, a student with a prestigious medical college at Derlakatte near here, was assaulted by Chandrashekhar and five others on Thursday night. He has sustained minor injuries in the assault. However, the accused fled the place as soon as people gathered at the place hearing Dr Mithun shouting for help.
Chandrashekhar and Mithun reside in the same hostel. A few days ago, Chandrashekhar is said to have troubled others in the hostel under the influence of alcohol. Mithun had objected to this.
Enraged by this, Chandrashekhar along with his friends Manoj, Ninesh, Satish, Amit and Taranath attacked Mithun on Thursday night, while he was going back to the hostel on his car after dinner. The accused damaged the glass and even tried to attack Mithun with a sabre.
At this point Mithun shouted for help, hearing which the other students of the hostel came to his help. So the accused fled the place immediately.
A complaint has been filed by Mithun in the Ullal police station in which he has stated that the accused attacked him with sabre and wooden clubs.
