181 people killed on UAE roads in 3 months

Dubai, July 10 (Emirates24|7): Road accidents killed 181 people on UAE roads in the first three months of 2014 and police blamed the mishaps to drivers’ failure to respect traffic rules.

Police data showed reckless driving and other violations resulted in 1,302 road accidents through the UAE despite intensified police measures to curb offences.

The accidents resulted in the death of 181 people and the injury of 1,929, according to Brigadier Gaith Al Zaabi, traffic coordination director at the ministry of interior.

He made the comments after launching a three-month traffic awareness campaign under the title “for your safety…abide by traffic rules.”
