Mangalore: Man from Bangalore meets watery grave at Ullal

Mangalore, Jul 10: A man from Bangalore who had come to enjoy the sea at Ullal here met a tragic death on Thursday July 10.

The deceased has been identified as Ravi G (60), a resident of Sadduguntepalya, Bangalore.

Ravi along with his friend Mohan Raj (35), who is also from Bangalore, had come on a visit to Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala on July 8. After offering prayers, on Thursday morning they left for Ullal to see the beach.

After lunch, they went back to the beach and sat on the shore. All of a sudden, a huge wave engulfed them with great force and swept them away. Mohan Raj somehow managed to swim to the shore while Ravi went missing.

Mohan then raised an alarm after which locals and swimmers started searching for Ravi. It was evening by the time the body was found.

The body was shifted to Wenlock hospital.

Ullal police have registered a case.

    rainy season mainly in Ullal and
    tannirbavi.

    The sea knows no swimmers.

    Mangalore beaches are treacherous enough under ideal conditions. Whatever prompts people to indulge in the stormy monsoons?

    Accidental deaths of drowning at Ullal beach are on the increase. It is therefore expedient that proper warning at various places are posted to caution the unsuspecting visitors. Stationing of LIFE-GUARDS should also be seriously considered by the authorities concerned.

    RIP Ravi!!

    People who have never seen the sea and experienced its ferocity during the rains mostly throw caution to the winds and think about the consequences of getting into the sea during monsoons!!

    Very sad that this gentleman after offering prayers to his favorite deities straight away met a watery grave, what an irony!! Perhaps he was destined to go that way!!

    These North Karnataka people have no sense at all. In this rainy season its not child's play with water on Beach.
