Bangalore, Aug 6: Karnataka government would build 20,000 houses in the state under 'Survana Gram' housing project to help homeless families in below poverty line own a house in rural areas, Karnataka housing minister D T Jayakumar said here on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters he said that the project would be implemented this year in 202 Assembly segments for which a survey had been ordered. The houses would cost Rs 50,000 and government would extend a subsidy of Rs 25,000. All necessary infrasture such as water, roads and electricity would be provided, he said.
A new version fo Ashraya Housing scheme would be announced soon for which announcement would be made by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on the Independance Day, he added.
