Manipal student kidnapped, gang-raped in Bangalore; accused arrested

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Jul 16: In an incident which has similarities to the gang-rape of Nirbhaya at Delhi and Shakti Mills gang-rape at Mumbai, a gang of hoodlums allegedly kidnapped a girl student from Manipal during her visit here, and gang-raped her in the presence of her friend.

Relating to this case, which came out into the open with some delay, Pulikeshi Nagar police have arrested the main accused, identified as Nasir Haider.

Haider (26) from Fraser Town here is said to be an agent involved with selling of cars. On the night of July 11, he, along with five of his associates, took the student and her male friend in a car at around 12.15 am after posing them threats, it is said. This heinous crime came to light after the girl and her friends tipped the police about the accused. Haider was arrested from Shivaji Nagar here on Sunday July 13.

The police have since obtained a complaint from the victim, registered the same, and produced the youth in the court on Monday. A Skoda car bearing registration No KA 03 MJ 8433 was confiscated from Haider's possession.

Five other accused said to have been involved with this crime have gone missing. A special team headed by assistant commissioner of police has been formed to nab them, the policemen said.

The 22-year-old girl in question, whose paents stay in an apartment in Frazer Town here, has been pursuing postgraduate studies at Manipal, it is learnt. She was on a visit to the city recently.

On the night of July 11, she had returned to the apartment of her parents by a Honda City car of her friend after having dinner with some friends at a hotel, at around 11.30 pm. When she was sitting in the car and conversing with her friend in front of the building in which her parents live, Haider and his associates came in a Skoda car, scouted the area around, and threatened the girl's friend at knife point after getting down from their car. After that, Haider and his three friends got into the boy's car.

After forcing the girl into the back seat of the car, they took the car towards a deserted area and sexually harassed the girl in the backseat, it is said. Two other accused followed them in the Skoda car, the girl said.

At around 12.45 am, they took the car to near the railway tracks in Cox Town here. Three of the accused then forced the girl's friend out of the car, and took him away. Nasir then allegedly raped the girl, it is learnt. The gang demanded payment of Rs 50,000 from her friend, and after snatching a high-end wrist watch the student's friend was wearing, they sped away in the Skoda car, it is said.

Deputy commissioner of police, Satish, has ordered for a departmental inquiry against inspector of Pulikeshi Nagara station, Muhammed Rafiq Ahmed, and four other policemen of this station, for dereliction of duty. He has found that the policemen had erred in registering abduction and assault case instead of sexual harassment and rape.

the only way we can avoid rape cases are with very strict rule from any or all of the following:

1- Hanging the culprits to death in front of anyone and everyone
2- Cutting their coward private part and covering it with salt and black pepper.
3- Tying them on a pole and stoning them to death
4- put them in a cage completely naked with full of rats and ants
5- tie them on a pole naked and make 1000s of girls kick their private parts and let them die there itself.

Am i retarded? Yes i am with these Rapers. I hate them and they need to be punished. Such incidents are so shameful and why do we have to blame girls for these? Girls are also human. They can go, do whatever they want. Wear whatever clothes they want. It's their money, their life, their time, their rights.... Stop these. and please copy paste my suggestions if you think it's good.

these rapers aren't humans. So these punishments will surely suit them and alert others who have just cheap thought.

It is indeed about community. Lets open our eyes atleast now and acknowledge what is happening. Lets count the number of rapes done by majority against so called minority and otherwise. For the first one count will be over in few min and for the other it may take lifetime.
This is happening during holy month across India. When was the last time you read that muslims were raped during ganesh puja, Durga puja or similar circumstances. Its easy to pose as gentlemen by saying religion doesnt matter here. RELIGION DOES MATTER.
I am sure during holy month they attain supreme state of a peace of mind during special prayers and when they come out they will be extremely happy to see kuffar females moving around . If they are not dressed modestly in their perspective they let their mind take over and bless those ladies with diving actions.
Only few incident are getting reported ..means we can imaging how many are getting pushed under carpet .

the only way to stop the rape case in future is to make a law which states that the culprit should be hanged to death. If this rule is obtained and done for that person then each and every man will think before raping.

This is the most sober and mature assessment that I have come across. Most of the time, we do not have access to facts. We blindly swallow what the media feeds us. All the newspapers reported that the victim refused a medical examination. Not one of them reported that the victim was heavily drunk. Hats off to you, Mr. Kamath, for letting us know this. Of course, a rape is a rape whether of a "forward" girl, a traditional Indian woman or even a prostitute. According to the law, even if you force a prostitute to have sex against her will, it amounts to rape.

Why you are jumping into the conclusion? Mr. Dinesh correctly highlighted what has happened in this incident.

If you read my previous comments, you will find that I am not against persons who condemns the crimes like rapes. I hate persons who refrain from writing comments when the crime committed by one persons from their community and writes “hang him, make him impotent” when the crime committed by persons from other community, whether that person belongs to any community.

we dont know how far the story is true.

if the episode is the same as described by the victim, there are no words to express the shock.

if the inspector really played game, after identifying the caste of accused, then believe me India will be like other peaceful contry like Iraq,Lebanon,Libya,Indonesia,Egypt, Pakistan,Afghanistan, etc.

there is only one religion in those peaceful countries & how safe is to live there.

dineshanna, nobody is teaching humanity to our next generation, but hatred.

politicians ruled us by divide & rule policy only.

and we have a wonderful home minister to , probably most efficient in the world!!!!!

let us stop hating each other, otherwise it will be disastrous future India.

i had been to kasaragod saw hoardings condemning Israel attack on Gaza agree that any bombing has to condemmed, but our people are more bothered about that than national issues, like DMK & AIADMK - who are more bothered about lankan tamilians than indian tamilians.

Why did you get hurt man if I speak the truth? We don't need any rocket science to understand why did Mr. Rafi not take the complaint.

You may not accept here openly. But your heart accepts it. Ok?

Police should take complaint if even if you are pickpocketed. Rape is such a huge crime. Because of these religion fanatics our society is spoiling.

Mr. Rafi might have thought CM Siddappa will support him. But Raghavendra Auradhkar has taken a superb decision before it reached Home Minister. The home minister would have never sacked Rafi. This is the truth.

I speak and write openly. I don't have any hesitation or fear for that. It is due to his blind love on his community that Mr Rafi denied to accept the complaint.

This is what I keep saying - if the fence is strong all these things and many other crimes will not take place and will become a rare news.
Since the police\politicians\their relatives themselves have a active hand in every kind of crime, how there will be law and order? Even when the accused are charged, within a couple of days or so the charges will be ped and the culprits are free again to continue their heinous activities. It has become so difficult for anyone to register a case against such people and their relatives.
Earlier a minister was involved\CCTV footage surely was available, which reportedly, was sent to Gujarat - for what reason? was the evidence not enough and was there any time to alter\morph the evidence? This case too will be "PUSKA" "PUSK" in a few days

Our Home Minister, according to TI, said "he was NOT AWARE that so many crimes were taking place and they are increasing day by day!!!!
With his looks looking always sleepy - it is possible he is aware of anything at all.
I hope this particular case where police are accused of dereliction of duty will be charged and punished as I guess they were puppets in the hand of a politician .

Mr. Poojary, when will you grow up?for you only the community of culprit is important than the crime committed. Well then read this. Recently in Badauna, parents of 2 dalit girls begged the police to take their complaint against an upper caste Yadav person who was seen abducting the girls and police not only refused to take the complaint but also assaulted the victim's parents. Next morning both girls bodies found hanging to the tree.
Do you any comments? or would you like to agree that you are an hypocrite?

And the higher police officer who reported to R. Auradkar about dereliction of duty also belongs to the same community, that itself proves there is no cover up as suggested by you to save the criminal in this case.

this is expected by seeing the recent months and days... it's increasing day by day. instead of strictening the punishments, court is behind stopping the punishments on these culprits. so, no actions, no punishments, no tightening of the law and order... noting coming in place, definitley evils like Haider and his friends will definitely continue doing such crimes. Anybody who feels like enjoying it... will go for it. there is nothing for them to feel scared of. pity on us.

I haven't seen your comment when Namo Brigade announced 'SANMANA BHAGYA' to homestay attackers or some of your own party ministers were having 'PORN BHAGYA' in Vidhana soudha. I hope you are matured enough to condemn the crime irrespective of religion.
Along with the culprit, the police inspector should be stoned to death. Getting sick of this kind of ba@#$ds.

Mr Ahmed, Mangalore, you are 100% right! Our poor legal system with hundreds of loop holes along with our expert criminal 'criminal lawyers' are the biggest set back in nailing the rapists. These criminals will be free in a few days but the victims have to live with this shame and mental torture throughout their life time! Unless these laws on rape are amended and severe punishment is imposed at the quickest possible time these crimes will increase!

Exactly, how the police and judge react is most important. US also has very big problem like this - just yesterday more than 35 people were arrested in Disney World for all kinds of sinful practices - as if Obama should resign for that!! The main thing is now we know the US justice system will swiftly send these people to long sentences (30 years or more)!

Gandhiji said we might have got Independence, but it's 'True Independence' when a girl or woman is able to move freely in the streets of India even at midnight.
    Now....
    1. Do we really have Independence?
    2) If Yes- why these almost every day occurrences?
    3) If No- Then don't the 'educated' have to exercise some caution?
    4) How come in most of the cases 'politicians ' kith and kin are involved? How can these people rule us and the outset 'Do we care really as to whom we vote to represent us'?

    Winston Churchill said many things.
We need not always refer to the one from the 'Looter Regime of India'. We had many many great great thinkers, visionaries
and fighters who laid down their lives for us, but time and again we remember this statement from the member of the 'Looter Regime'. Churchill should have known better. All the wealth, UK even now enjoys is from it's 'Loot of India'. This is the truth and nothing but the truth.
