Sullia, Aug 9: An elderly couple from Kullaje near Amarapadnur here ended their life consuming poison on Monday August 7 night.
Narayana alias Narnappa Naik (60) and his wife Kunhyakka (52) were found dead on Tuesday morning. The couple was living in their own house. They had three children. While the eldest son is married and living with his family in a separate house just in front of the ancestral house, the second son is working in Bangalore. The youngest daughter is studying computers in Madikeri.
Narayana was a daily-wage worker but had not gone for work on Monday. On Tuesday morning, their daughter-in-law Pushpashree went to their house after she found the house door was closed even late in the morning. When she went inside, she found her in-laws dead.
Immediately police were summoned to the place and bodies were sent for autopsy. The couple had consumed poison said the police. It is said that couple might have been saddened since none of their children were living with them, though they used to visit them once in a while.
