Beltangady, Aug 9: Suresh, a servant in one Narayan Shetty's house at Baramelu-Nadugudde near Laila here is said to have gone missing after stealing ornaments worth Rs 3 lac from his employer’s house.

Suresh had come to Narayan Shetty's house some 22 days ago asking for job.  Since the latter was in need of a house servant, he asked Suresh to stay with him.  However, Suresh is said to have suddenly gone missing in the last week.

But the theft came to light only when the house members searched for their ornaments after Suresh's going.  It is said that Suresh has stolen a kariyamani of 8 sovereigns, another gold chain of 8 sovereigns, 4 bangles, two chains and finger rings.  The total value of the stolen ornaments is said to be Rs 3 lac.

The police suspect that Suresh might have had criminal background and that he might have involved in several theft cases also.  The name which he told Narayan too seems to be fake, said police sources.

The Beltangady police are investigating the case.
