Mangalore, Aug 10:
The last day of fishing holidays and the fishermen community offer prayers to Sea God (Samudra Pooja). Keeping up this annual tradition, the fishermen on Wednesday, Aug 10 offered the pooja at Tannirbhavi Beach.

With this prayer ceremony, the boats will again enter the sea for their regular catch. An auspicious occasion for the community, the prayers are intended to please the Sea God and plead him to ensure that the sons of the sea are safe in his fold.

A colourful procession (Shoba Yatre) from Bokkapatna Sri Brahma Bobbarya Daivasthana under the leadership of Raja Sandhyanathji Swamiji of Suvarna Kadli Mutt was the highlight of the ceremony.

District-in-charge Minister B Nagaraj Shetty also took part in the rituals.

During the Samudra Pooja milk, fruits, vegetables, tender coconuts, dry coconuts and are offered to the sea.
