Mangalore, Aug 10: The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy has organized 'Mhan Monis Ek Mulakhat" programme at Holy Cross Church Hall, Taccode near Moodbidri on Sunday August 13 evening.  Academy will also hold Kavita Sobhann on the same evening.

Noted Konkani writer and former editor of Raknno Fr Mark Walder and senior folklore artiste M Gopal Gowda will be felicitated for their contribution to Konkani literature and culture.  Fr Mark Walder was the editor of Raknno from 1973 to 1985.  He had also served as the advisor of Central Sahitya Academy.  For some time he has also rendered service as lecturer of Konkani journalism at Konkani department of St Aloysius College here.

M Gopal Gowda is a well-known Konkani folklore artiste hailng from Kudmi community.  He has been the flag-bearer of gumttam, tonniye dance in Konkani.  He has composed songs for gumtam as well as tonniye dance and has also carried out an extensive research on Kudmi community.  His research work will soon come in form of a book.  He has been a regular artiste with Akashvani.  He was awarded the Konkani Sahitya Academy award for art in the year 2003.

Richard Moras, convener, Konkani Kutam, Bahrain will be the chief guest on the occasion while Fr Hilary Lobo, parish priest of Taccode church will be the guest of honour.  Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Eric Ozario will preside over.

Academy has also organized Kavita Sobhann after this programme which will be moderated by noted Konkani poet Titus Noronha.  Well-known Konkani poets and poetesses are expected to participate in the Kavita Sobhann.
