Mangalore, Aug 11: A pre-university college student was killed in a mini-bus-scooter collision in front of the Lions Seva Mandira at Mallikatta here on Thursday August 10 afternoon. One more student was injured critically in the accident.

While the deceased has been identified as Sawan Shetty (17) of Puttur, injured has been identified as Sushanth (17), a resident of Jeppu Bappal.  Both of them were the students of Shankara Adyantaya Memorial PU College at Nantoor.

On Thursday they were coming to the city riding Honda Activa (KA 19 R-212) vehicle during their lunch break.  While Sawan was riding the vehicle, Sushanth was riding pillion.  They collided with mini-bus of KMC Hospital which was carrying its staff at Mallikatta.

As a result both Sawan and Shushanth fell on the road and sustained injuries.  They were immediately rushed in to the hospital.  But Sawan who had sustained serious injuries in his head succumbed to injuries later in the hospital.

It said that Sawan had no license to ride a two-wheeler.  So the police have filed a case on his father having given vehicle to his son who did not have license.
