By-elections in three Assembly constituencies on Aug 21

Bangalore, Jul 20: Three assembly constituencies that went vacant - Shikaripura, Chikkodi and Bellary - after its MLAs contested the Lok Sabha polls, will go to by-elections on August 21.

The legislative members of the three turfs, Yeddiyurappa (Shikaripura), Sriramulu (Bellary) and Prakash Hukkeri (Chikkodi) contested for the Lok Sabha elections in April/May, and all of them won.

According to a press release from the Election Commission of India, the notification for the by-elections will be issued on July 23. The candidates are required to file their nominations before August 2 and the scrutiny of the nominations will be conducted on August 4. The last date to withdraw the nominations is August 6. The elections will be held on August 21, and the results would be out on August 25.

The Election Commission stated by-elections will be held in Bihar, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh on the same day for 21 assembly constituencies. In the Congress-led Karnataka, this is the first Assembly by-elections after it assumed power.


With elections being declared, names of several possible candidates are doing the rounds in these constituencies:


Shikaripura

Chikkodi - Sadalaga

Congress aspirants- Ganesh Hukkeri, Amit Kore, Hydar Ali Patel
BJP- Ramesh Katti, Mahantesh Kavatagi Matta, Anna Saheb Jalle
JD(S) - not yet decided


Bellary

Congress - Asundi Honnarappa, reired IAS officer Devendrappa
BJP - J Shanta, Sanna Pakeerappa, Dr C R Srinivas

    Come on friends we got one more opportunity for pulling legs of each other… After Lok Sabha Election, we virtually never got an opportunity for that. Start predicting or blaming but same time it keeps us active too. But one thing is sure, if CONgiss lose all three seats means Siddu gone forever

    Yes Jeevan U r right Right time to punish them. Congress Govt Totally failed to stop Moral policing in DK. I don't know why Homeminister post is given to George??     Sh Ismail, Request you to check wholesale price index & inflation index before commenting. There are slight reductions everywhere due to drastiuc measures taken up by Jaitley!!!

    Everybody knows that these were results of a 10 year long misrule & non governance corrupt times of UPA 1 & 2. It would take time for Modi to correct these...

    Please have some more patience...We have waited for 10 years to oust the corrupt Kauravas!!!!
