Mangalore, Aug 12: A day-long training for the director, presidents, secretaries and other office bearers of various cooperative associations of fisheries of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts was organized here on Friday August 11.
Y Gangadhar Suvarna, president of the Federation of fisheries cooperative association of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district presided over the inaugural function. B K Subhashchandra of State Cooperative Federation delivered the keynote address on the occasion.
Gangadhar Suvarna in his presidential address urged the state government to provide loans to fishermen at 4% interest. He also appealed the government to implement programmes for the welfare of women and youth of the fisheries community.
