Dubai Military officer rapes newly-arrived Filipina maid, gets 7-year jail

Dubai, Jul 22 (Emirates 247) : The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance on Tuesday sentenced seven years in prison to a corporal in the Armed Forces after he was found guilty of raping and sodomising his Filipina maid in his bed room.

The accused denied charges when first appeared before the court. “I did not have sex with her against her will,” he told the jury.

His defence lawyer told the jury that the maid had made up the rape story to blackmail his client.

Defending his client, the lawyer said that the maid had used a tissue that contained his client’s sperms which he had disposed in the bathroom’s dust bin and rubbed it on her body in order to accuse him of raping her.

However, the lawyer said that the maid had tried to seduce her sponsor.

According to the Dubai Court records, on November 21, at around 3pm when the maid MT was in the kitchen, her employer, SS, 37, returned home from work. He came to her holding his military uniform and asked her to clean it.

“I removed the military emblem and the belt from the dress and put clothes in the washing machine. Then I took the belt and the military emblems to keep them in the ironing area. All of a sudden, the employer came and pulled me from my hand into his bed room which was near the ironing area and pushed me to the floor near the bed,” the victim told investigators. SS then raped and sodomised her.

After that he went into bathroom adjacent to the bedroom and she rushed to her room and locked the door.

“After a few minutes he knocked at my room’s door and apologised of what he did in English language. I asked him to leave me. After sometime I heard the car engine sound as he was leaving the house. I waited for few minutes before opening the door. Then I ran to the gate to escape,” the maid told investigators.

The maid, who was new in the country, took a bus where she met a Filipina and asked her consulate whereabouts.

“I went to the consulate and reported the incident. The consulate contacted the agency through which I was recruited and an employee came and accompanied me to a hospital for medical check. Two hospitals refused to check when they learnt about the rape because such cases involve check by the police medical team,” said the victim.

The two went to Al Qusais Police Station and reported the crime.

Policemen accompanied the maid to her employer’s house in Oud Al Mateena area.

They obtained the necessary permission of the prosecution to raid the house as he refused to open the door although he was inside the house.

Police went into the house and the maid guided them to her employer’s bedroom and pointed at the area near the bed where she was raped.

The maid was asked to hand over the cloths she was wearing when the crime happened.

When confronted by the policemen about the maid’s allegation, SS, admitted to the crime.

Chief Prosecutor Mohammed Hassan asked the court to implement stiff penalty against the accused.
