Angry Shiv Sena MP allegedly forces fasting Muslim to eat

Updated

New Delhi, Jul 23 (PTI): A Shiv Sena MP was caught on a video footage apparently force-feeding a fasting Muslim employee in the New Maharashtra Sadan here sparking outrage and a huge uproar in Parliament today amid demands for action against its MPs involved in the incident and calls to avoid giving communal tinge.

As the unsavoury episode escalated into a major controversy, sources in the Sadan, which is the guesthouse of the Maharashtra government, said it was a fall out of a group of Shiv Sena MPs being allegedly upset over the quality of food served there.

Claiming there was no one to take note of their complaint, the MPs then allegedly barged into the canteen and questioned an employee of the caterer observing Roza and who was identified as Arshad Zubair.

Watched by his party colleagues, Rajan Vichare in a fit of rage tried to thrust a roti in the mouth of the employee during the incident that was reported to have happened last week. The shaken employee, who had his name tag on his shirt, appeared to plead to the MP not to do this to him.

Vichare, who initially claimed that he did not do anything as made out after the footage was aired on TV channels, later said he regretted the incident. "I did not know the person's name, caste or community," he had earler said in the day.

As anger mounted over his action, Vichare later said, "I came to know that the employee was a Muslim only after seeing TV footage and I regret it". He also claimed that he was only trying to draw the attention fo authorities to poor quality of food served at the Sadan.

Opposition parties seized on the incident that came as an embarassment for the BJP-led NDA government and said it was an apt case to refer to the Parliament's Ethics Committee.

The issue was raised in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha by opposition members who demanded action against the Shiv Sena MPs who vociferously denied the reports.

After the uproar by opposition, the two Houses witnessed brief adjournments as agitated members wanted to raise the issue which was staunchly opposed by the Shiv Sena. The Lok Sabha also witnessed a walkout by the Congress, NCP, Left, PDP and AIMIM.

Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray said the uproar over the incident was an attempt to "silence" his party's voice. He, however, said despite being a votary of Hindutva, Shiv Sena had no hatred for other religions.

"This (uproar over the incident) is an attempt to silence Shiv Sena's voice. We are proponents of Hindutva but we don't have hatred for other religions," Uddhav told reporters in Aurangabad.

The IRCTC, the Indian Railways subsidiary that was catering for the Sadan, stopped all operations at the Sadan in protest and complained in writing to the Maharashtra Resident Commissioner, saying the employee had been "deeply pained and hurt...as religious sentiments are attached."

    Brother,
Please Don't use the word 'Muslim' for those your friends who are healthy enough and not fasting. No one is Muslim Until he follow or practice at-least which is compulsory for him like Namaz, Ramadan, Zakath etc.
I have many non Muslim friends who are fasting during entire month of Ramadan just like a true Muslim.
    Just for Information:
There are few Reasons for which one may excused from fasting in Ramadaan.
    Ex:
1)During Pregnancy or breastfeeding lady (depends on her choice).
    2)Sickness,
3)Traveler.(Should be long and Must not be any wrong or unnecessary purpose)
    4)Senility and old age
5)Intense hunger and thirst (conditions applied)etc.

IRCTC is very famous for supply of Low quality food, even in Rajdhani Express. IRCTC gives all sub-contracts only to the people from Bihar & U.P even in South India including Konkan Railway and all Railway platform Tea & Snack stalls are given to Bhayyas in Karnataka. So it is not surprising that Food is of so low quality in Maharashtra Bhavan.

According to me as responsible citizen what this ss my did was wrong. But that does not justify congis to give this a communal colour. Its a unfortunate incident. If there is any merit in the court the victim or anyone in his behalf should go to police file a fir or go to court. If the court funds the accused guilty then he has to bow down to the judiciary and spend some time behind the bars. Sena may suspend him or he may be disqualified as an Mp. But in the interest of the nation looser congis s should not give communal colour to this in the eve to polarize Muslim vote bank in maharashtra

May be this is the part of unique civil code which NDA govt going to implement in the country. Shiv Sena MPs are not fasting, then they thought why this supervisor is fasting. so they forced him to break the fast. This is the beginning and we could see more and more tortures on minorities in future by communal NDA govt.

If Shiva Sena MPs know that he is fasting in Ramadan and still forcefeeded him, it is a big mistake. All need to condemn it.

If they have feeded him to prove the roti quality is bad without knowing he is Muslim, then there is no need to make it big issue. Of course by seeing a person, it is not possible to makeout the religion.

I thought Shiv Sena MPs made the person to eat some s#*t. Thank GOD, that is not the case.

ncident-1 : People belonging to religion A go for pilgrimage in a hilly and forest area. 100 tents belonging to them torched by people belonging to religion B. Over 40 injured.
Incident-2 : Bad food served in a guest-house. MP belonging to religion A forcefully puts a chapati in mouth of a caterer. So that he also tastes the bad food. Coincidentally the caterer belonged to religion B and was on fast.

Everybody is well aware that practically the entire Shiv Sainiks are rogues, scoundrel and useless piece of $##ts. They do not have the ethics to deal in a humble manner with citizens. They think that everything is their baap ka raaj. They do not understand any other bashaa (language) for them thod fod is the only answer to all their anger. That is the reason why these Marathi people do not get decent jobs in Maharashtra. They think that since they are the ''sons / daughters of the soil'' they do not have to approach the companies of their choice. Rather it is the other way around. They want the bosses of the companies to approach and them and give them a ''red carpet'' welcome to their work places. I have seen for myself the way they behave at shops and public places. If they approach any shop / business establishment to collect ''chanda'' or ''hafta'' whatever u call it for festive occasions, they will forcibly prepare a receipt of their own choice and demand nothing less than what they have written - they will start with Rs. 500 haftha depending upon your .. if u refuse they bash you up, slap you for refusal and break everything and make you a broke. It is one of the third class political parties in the entire Maharashtra

Let us take this incident in 2 context.

    1. Being Known that he is Muslim and fasting:

We have to respect peoples from other religion and also vice-versa.
We have to respect someone fasting as it is their holy-month.Hence It is absolutely wrong what those MP's did. and they should apologies for that.

    2. They dont know that he is muslim and fasting: Then its a offense as they dont have the right to force feed without his consent.

    Hence this act is condemnable.
