Mangalore, Jul 24: A session on ‘Technology for Business Growth’, organized by Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on Wednesday July 23, urged the small and medium business community to tap the enormous potential of technology especially that of the internet to provide a big fillip to their business.
Speaking on the occasion, KCCI vice-president Nigam B Vasani said, "About 150 IT and BPO companies are working in and around Mangalore. Altogether, these companies are providing employment to 15,000 people. A few of the companies have international clients and the business community of the port city is yet to tap the services of these companies to enhance their business.”
During the presentation, a few of the IT-enabled companies briefed about how their service can be utilized to find more customers across the globe and maximize revenue. Vaibhav Pai, the representative of Host Gator, a web hosting company having an international presence, said that his company would host and manage the online services for business companies that would help them publicize their products.
"The small and medium enterprises (SME) are the major beneficiaries as the IT solution we are offering is much more cost-effective compared to putting out advertisements in other media," he said.
i-POINT Consulting Services Private Limited, a company based in Mangalore, has been offering a solution to companies in putting in place a mandatory awareness system on the critical issue of sexual harassment at work places. “The solution is a blend of online and offline packages which comprises of educating employees on the new anti-harassment law, conducting workshops, and the like,” said Vineeth Bhat, a director of the company.
A representative of Pro Bulk, an IT enabled company that provides bulk SMS services and marketing SMS services, also spoke on the merits of adopting technology in business. Praveen Kumar Kalbhavi, chairman of the IT sub-committee of KCCI, also spoke on the occasion.
