New Delhi, Aug 21: A Delhi court on Monday granted bail to former BJP president Bangaru Laxman, accused in the Tehelka expose case.
Special Judge I K Kochhar allowed the regular bail to Laxman on furnishing a surety and personal bond of Rs 2 lakh.
The CBI had charge sheeted the former BJP president on July 18, 2006 nearly after 15 months of probe into the Tehelka expose for allegedly taking bribe from representatives of fictitious armament firm for trying to influence public servants in a weapon deal.
According to the charge sheet, the investigations had disclosed that during a period of around two weeks between December 23, 2000 to January 6, 2001, representatives of the web portal Tehelka, who were posing as representatives of a London-based arms company, had met the former BJP chief three times.
They had met two of his personal staff five times during this period, the investigations said.
