Mangalore, Aug 22: Monocrotophos, a pesticide for agricultural purposes has now been banned with an immediate effect. 

Recent studies have confirmed that monocrotophos results in poisoning the vegetables over which it is sprayed to combat pests.  Following this, recommendations were made to government to ban monocrotophos.  It is revealed that monocrotophos has adverse effects on human beings.

So the central government has issued an order banning monocrotophos for any agricultural purposes, especially that of vegetables.
