Mangalore: Khela Daiz Utsav organized at Bajpe parish

Mangalore, Aug 5: ICYM Bajpe and St Therez ward jointly organized 'Gadyanth Ek Dees' 'Khela Daiz Utsav' at the Bajpe parish on Sunday August 3.

The programme was organized for celebrating the 100th ward meeting of St Joseph's Church, Bajpe. The ceremony was inaugurated by the buffaloes ploughing the fields, which represented unity.


Various inter-ward competitions were held on the occasion in which all parishioners belonging to St Joseph's church, Bajpe, irrespective of all ages took part. People from various communities gathered to witness the event. Bringing people together and uniting them was the main intention of the programme. Lunch was sponsored by St Therez ward members and was served to all those who attended the programme.

The programme began at 11 am and continued till 6:30 pm and was held at Thimaar Gadho (field), Anthonykatte, Karambar, Bajpe.

For the inaugural function, Fr Leo William Lobo, parish priest of St Joseph's Church was the president, the chief guests were Fr Praveen D'souza, assistant parish priest of St Joseph's Church, Jochim D'costa, taluk panchayat member, Eugine D'souza, vice president, parish council and Telma Fernandes, CMF Bajpe.

Arun Pinto and Wilfred D'souza, Gurkar, St Therez ward welcomed the gathering while Preetham Pinto compered. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ruben D'souza, president ICYM Bajpe.

Various field games were conducted on the occasion of which some were 100 meters race, tug of war, relay, filling the water, couple games, breaking the pot, treasure hunt and three-legged race.

The overall championship was bagged by St Jospeh's ward while St Anthony ward and Nithyadar ward shared the first runners' up spot.

The closing ceremony was compered by Aaron Noronha and Ruben D'souza, president ICYM Bajpe delivered the vote of thanks. The guests present at the ceremony were Fr Praveen D'souza, assistant parish priest, Jochim D'costa, wilfred D'souza, Eugiene D'souza and Victoria D'cunha. They also distributed the prizes.
